The only reason Maureen was so tenacious with Jack was because no one had really loved her before. Maureen was the sort that everyone looked upon with admiration. She wasn't much to look at, but she wasn't malicious either. She was smart, solid, stuck to her closest friends, even though they didn't have a tendency to be there for her when she needed them. She realized she could never find a female friend that could be there for her or that she would really be close to. Because, when it came right down to it, when a man would enter the picture, he ended up becoming most important to them. Priorities shifted, and obsession ensued. Maureen was forgotten and left to cope with solitude. Solitude was easy to bear, because it was her most faithful friend. She didn't mind going....
