Allison McCulloch MGT 311 11:00 TR October 30, 2001 Part 1: Paradigms Move from First Move out CA to TN job on my own Birth _______________|_________|___________|_______ Today Moving out on my own caused me to be responsible for rent and every other cost involved in my life. My parents did not provide for me and expected me to follow by their rules, so I decided to go out on my own. Moving out has affected me so that I am free accomplish my goals and to do what is important to me. I decided that I would not move back when times got tough financially, and have kept my promise to myself. I did not want to set out to fail or realize that moving out on my own was too hard to do. I decided that if I was actually going to do this, there was no looking back. I have certain beliefs that some people may think will limit me. In a book called On a Beam of Light, by Gene Brewer, he explains that people will sometimes go into jobs that they are afraid of or where they do not excel, so they can prove to themselves that they are able to overcome their fear; many times these people are miserable and end up changing jobs. I believe that I don't need to excel in everything. I don't believe that I am good in sales or marketing. I believe that since sales and marketing are not my strong points, I should not be concerned with trying to attain a job in that area, but focus on what I excel in. Part 2: Team Experiences The best team experience I have is ongoing. I co-write songs with my friend, Brent. He is talented in the area of writing lyrics and coming up with ideas, and I am able to write music to what he creates. We get along and work together well. When we're not working together, we can still talk and discuss things, because we have the same interests. Part 3: Your Individual Team Player Style I would either be a communicator or a contributor. As a communicator, I am very sensitive about projects that do not take human interests into consideration. I am concerned with how a project will benefit someone, instead of rip them off. As a contributor, I am into the details of a project. I like to be able to type and format the plan and to make sure that everything is finalized.
