The Shadows on the Wall
The Shadows on the Wall
I don’t remember,
What it was she said to me,
Somethin’ ‘bout forever endin’,
And us becoming a memory,
To this day I can’t recall,
If there were tears in her eyes,
The only thing that’s fresh in my mind,
Are those shadows on the wall.
(Chorus) I saw the shadow of her suitcase,
Right beside the front door,
And the blackened image,
Of the love that she swore,
It sure has been a while,
And I don’t remember it all,
But I can still see,
The shadows on the wall.
She took off the ring,
I gave her on our wedding day,
Tossed it in the corner,
I guess there weren’t no other way,
That diamond cast a shadow,
Looked like a broken heart,
A painful work of art,
Are those shadows on the wall.
(Bridge) Now every so often,
As I lay in bed and try to sleep,
I think I see the shadow of her walkin’,
Into my memories.
(Chorus 2X)
(Repeat chorus)
