Allison How are you doing? Don't worry about that Entertainment Weekly thing. The guy rated it worse that Battleship Earth, the L Ron Hubbard epic (probably picked up a scientoligist e-tail there) that has been universally hailed as the worst movie of all time. Poor fellow let his anger at a member of the cast get the best of him. That review is already gone from the collective (to use a vague idea) memory. Firewood. The movie will be around for a hundred years. Really longer. The reviewer looks like an idiot, which he probably is not, but just looks like one. This is one thing I have learned- if you are going to write something authoritative about an artist's work, and by this I mean an artist- someone who makes good art, you better spend a little time with it. If it is a play, for instance, you better see it a few times, or else, seeing it once, you might miss something or a lot of things and hang yourself out to dry. The great thing is the record is a hit. Just like in the movie. The whole country's going apee. Just can't keep them on the shelves. Number 4 Billboard country chart. Jumped from 90 to 50 something on the Pop chart. Probably the first time Ralph Stanley's been in the pop top fifty. This is good for everyone whether any one knows it or not. But write them anyway. The unmitigated effrontery. I do not believe the Entertainment Weekly is maintaining a proper level of insolence in its review staff. Or then again, maybe he's a music lover. Soon T B one
